The Niagara Thunderhawks defeated the St. Catharines Spartans 9-6 Tuesday night at the Virgil Arena to grab a 2-1 lead in their first-round Ontario Lacrosse Association playoff series.

ST. CATHARINES - The Niagara Thunderhawks defeated the St. Catharines Spartans 9-6 Tuesday night at the Virgil Arena to grab a 2-1 lead in their first-round Ontario Lacrosse Association playoff series. Scoring goals for the Thunderhawks were Zac Dubuc (3), Gates Abrams (2), Wade Kenny, Derek Merza, Austin Wright and Brennan Ferguson. Replying with goals for the Spartans were Jason Sawicki (2), Cree Blakely, Evan Scott, Danny Blocho and Jacob Schenck. Game 4 of the best-of-five series goes Friday at 8 p.m. at the Merritton Arena.
