Spartans roll past Point Edward 16-8 ~ Inside Sports

The St. Catharines Jr. B Spartans captured their ninth victory of the season as they defeated the Point Edward Pacers by the score of 16-8 Sunday night at Merritton Arena.

The Spartans honoured Al Ingram who will be added to the Spartans Honour Wall for his dedication, hard work and support as the former Spartans Equipment Manager/ Security and Board Member. Al, who passed away in March, was a tremendous friend and will be greatly missed.

St. Catharines led 4-3 after 20 minutes and doubled up the Pacers in the second to take a 10-6 lead after two periods.

The Spartans offense continued to roll as they added three straight to open the third period taking a commanding 13-6 lead. They added three more over a one minute span on route to the 16-8 win.

Chris Robertson led all players with a game-high six points adding two goals and four assists. Zach Calder contributed with a goal and four helpers while Jacob Schenck added a season high four assists. Danny Blocho (3G) and Brett Pace (2G, 1A) added three points each. Trevor Hines (2G), Cree Blakely (2G), Taylor Dion (1G, 1A), Matt Moore (1G, 1A), Kyle Adams (1G) and Evan Scott (1G) rounded out the Spartans scoring.

Point Edward was led by Blain Adams who recorded four goals and one assist. Cory Burr (2G, 2A), Trevor Hiseler (1G, 1A) and Kevin Durco (1G, 1A) were the other Pacers goal scorers.

In goal, Spartans starters Craig Seneca turned aside 47 of 55 shots he faced for the victory. Pacers Ian Ferguson collected 38 saves in the loss.
