Balanced offense leads Spartans over Elora 12-8

The St. Catharines Jr. B Spartans defeated the Elora Mohawks by the score of 12-8 Thursday night at Merritton Arena.

The Spartans added four goals in each of the three periods on route to their sixth victory of the regular season.

The Spartans used a balanced offense led by Trevor Hines (3G, 1A), Matt Moore (2G, 2A) and Zach Calder (1G, 3A) who all contributed with four points each. Chris Robertson added one goal and two assists while Cree Blakely (1G, 1A), Danny Blocho (1G, 1A) and Michael Bosse (2A) all chipped in with two points each. Rounding out the St. Catharines scoring were Kyle Adams and Jacob Schenck who both added single markers.

Elora was led by Jared Bouwman who recorded a goal and three assists. Shawn Lantz (2G, 1A) and Sam Rooney (1G, 2A) both added three points each. Sandy Heseltine chipped in with two goals while Robbie Stovel and Cole Spear rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

In goal, Spartans starter Craig Seneca registered 35 saves for the victory. For Elora, Nolan Clayton got the start and allowed seven goals on 21 shots before being replaced by Matt Humphrey who added 18 saves.

St. Catharines now goes on the road for four straight games versus Owen Sound (May 24), Orangeville (May 26), Niagara (May 29) and Brampton (May 31). Their next home action is June 1st at 7pm when they host the Point Edward Pacers at Merritton Arena.
